How do I get through today?
You don’t need to rethink your career this afternoon. You need to get through it.
Not the next six months. Today. You’re past the point of thinking clearly about it and you still have to be functional in an hour.

Or together
Overwhelm Reset System + RECALIBRATE
For getting through it now, and working out what has to change.

Overload isn’t one state. Fight, flight, freeze and fawn feel completely different from the inside, and what helps in one state can be the wrong thing entirely in another. This helps you work out which one you’re in, and gives you a response matched to it.
Fight
Heat, clenched jaw, the urge to push back.
Discharge the energy, then signal the effort is over.
Flight
Restless, keyed up, the pull to leave or to stay busy.
Slow the system down, then anchor to where you actually are.
Freeze
Heavy, blank, unable to start.
Bring energy back gently, in very small amounts.
Fawn
The automatic yes, scanning other people’s moods.
Turn attention back to yourself, before you answer.
What’s in it:
What it does
- A page for each of the four states — what it actually feels like from inside, so you can tell which one you’re in
- A response matched to that state, rather than a general calming exercise
- A two-page State → Strategy cheat sheet — find the row that matches what your body is actually doing, then pick one thing. Photograph it, or print it and put it where the difficulty happens.
How it’s built to be used
- Most of what’s in here takes thirty to sixty seconds. One is enough. You don’t need to work through a list — pick one thing and try that.
- Written to be used while depleted rather than studied. Short sections, nothing to work through in order, start anywhere.
If you can’t tell which one you’re in, that’s covered too — there are two things in here that are least likely to make anything worse, whatever is going on. None of these responses are choices, and none of them are flaws. They developed because at some point they worked.
What changes is narrow and specific. Instead of reaching for the same technique regardless of what your body is doing, you have a way to work out what may be happening and choose one thing that fits it. And if you can’t tell, there’s a starting point for that too. It doesn’t make overwhelm stop happening — it gives you somewhere to start when it does.
Take a look inside
Next to the Reset Kit: this one is for when you can’t think straight right now. The Reset Kit is for when you know burnout is the problem and you need structure for getting some capacity back.
